Goodbye Hybridiot. Hello Lanekeep.

How writing this newsletter inspired me to launch something I've actually been working on since I was 8 years old.

This will be the last post on Hybridiot. But it’s not the end! Here’s why.

I spent a decade writing about music and another crafting ideas for agencies. Hybridiot was how I finally experimented with writing about cars — something I’d always wanted to do, ever since I started reading car mags and recommending rides to family members as a precocious kid. Launching Hybridiot helped me find my voice on electrified driving. More importantly, it guided me towards a new calling.

What I Learned From You

Well, you actually subscribed! Some of you I know, and many I don’t, and that really encouraged me to keep going. And through your comments and emails, I discovered something bigger: most people don’t just want information about EVs and hybrids. They want someone in their corner who’ll actually help them find the right car and navigate the dealership maze.

That’s why I’m launching Lanekeep.

What’s Lanekeep?

Everything Hybridiot was, but with skin in the game. I’m not just writing about car buying — I’m helping people actually do it. Lanekeep offers independent automotive guidance for people who want practical solutions without dealer pressure or endless hours of individual research, and we specialize in green vehicles.

We do it by matching clients with cars that suit their real world needs, backing up our informed recommendations with hard numbers — efficiency, costs, reliability — not just opinions.

There will be a brand new newsletter — the Lanekeep Letter — with the same conversational, slightly snarky approach you know. I’m ending Hybridiot, and I hope you’ll subscribe to the new thing right here. I didn’t want to do the thing where I just imported everyone over to Lanekeep, but I hope you’ll make the jump over with me. I’m also switching to Ghost as the newsletter platform for a multitude of reasons (including reader feedback).
